"She is very perceptive about each client's body. She manages to find just the right amount of challenge and variety. At my yearly physical this year I was a half inch taller."

Hi — I'm Cara.

Movement specialist, former Broadway performer, lifelong dancer. Owner of Coeur Movement.

Cara Kjellman

Pilates has been the constant.

I started taking dance lessons at three years old and continued through adolescence, college, and a 16-year performing career — most of it on Broadway. My body has always been my true voice.

That journey hasn't always been easy. I've had numerous injuries and battled health issues. Through all of it, Pilates has been the constant. It has helped me heal, growing stronger and more confident.

Why "Coeur."

"Coeur" is the French word for "heart" — and when pronounced, it sounds very much like "core." A strong core is the focus of Pilates. Yet so is the coeur.

Both my client's heart and my own must be truly invested for the work to succeed. Each session is dedicated to meeting the body where it is and guiding it forward toward more strength and ease.

"Her complete mastery of musculoskeletal anatomy informs her teaching, exercise by exercise and student by student."

Holistic by nature.

The Pilates Method allows the body to achieve greater overall strength and balance through hundreds of exercises practiced on the apparatus and on the mat.

At its heart are six principles. They demand that the person practicing Pilates be committed to the work with both body and mind, throughout every session.

Six principles.

Classical roots,
intuitive practice.

My method is grounded in classical Pilates — the belief that the body will start to balance itself, gaining strength, stability, stamina, and stretch as it progresses through beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

I bring training as a dancer, decades of work with body workers, and continued study in Gyrotonic, Myofascial Release, pelvic floor health, and anatomy. From the moment a client walks in, I'm scanning their body, identifying patterns, and choosing where to begin.

"Cara has complemented her classical training with a keen intuition about my body and its needs. She's been very successful at custom-tailoring an exercise routine."

Studio Classes.

Small-group reformer and tower classes — personal attention within a community setting. Every body welcome, every level.

Reformer.

The heart of the Pilates studio — a spring-loaded apparatus that meets resistance to every movement, building strength and length together. Classes flow through lying, seated and standing work. Modifications and progressions are offered throughout, so the class meets your body where it is.

Tower.

The tower extends the mat upward — adding springs, bars, and a vertical dimension to classical Pilates work. Tower classes emphasize deep core engagement, enhance spinal articulation, and correct muscle imbalances in both the arms and legs. A beautiful complement to reformer practice, or a strong path in on its own.

Mat class with Cara teaching

Mat.

The foundation underneath the entire method — practiced with just the body, the breath, and the floor. Mat classes build the deep core control and movement awareness that makes every apparatus session possible. A complete practice on its own, or the discipline running underneath everything else.

"She builds community. She creates a space to learn, grow, get better — and most importantly, get better together."

Cara in one-on-one session

One-on-One.

Just you and me. Every exercise selected for your body, every cue tailored to what you need that day. The deepest and most adaptable way to work.

Two clients on reformers

Duets.

Bring a partner — a spouse, a friend, a family member. Sessions accommodate both bodies, with shared and individual work running in parallel.

Cara guiding a trio class

Trios.

Three bodies, one session. A balance of personal attention and small-group energy — ideal for friend groups, families, or anyone who wants the camaraderie of class with the depth of private work.

"My 72-year-old back is the strongest it has ever been in my life. I am virtually pain free."

Ann, 70's
